The acquisition marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands its national footprint and strengthens its production capabilities in response to growing demand.
According to the company, the transaction provides South Side Hard Soda with access to expanded distribution infrastructure and operational resources aimed at supporting the brand’s continued growth within South Africa’s ready-to-drink (RTD) beverage market.
A key component of the expansion strategy has been a major manufacturing investment by a subsidiary within the group. Over the past year, the company commissioned and developed a dedicated canning line and production facility to support the brand’s future supply requirements.
The investment is intended to improve production capacity and ensure consistent product availability as distribution continues to expand across the country.
A representative for the brand said the additional manufacturing capability would help maintain reliable stock levels for retailers and consumers.
The latest expansion has seen South Side Hard Soda increase its retail presence to more than 2,000 outlets nationwide.
The brand is now available through several major liquor retail chains and independent outlets, including TOPS at SPAR, Pick n Pay Liquor, Johnny’s Liquor Hyper, Norman Goodfellows, Ultra Liquors and Liquor City.
The company said the expanded retail network significantly strengthens the brand’s national reach and positions it for further growth within the competitive RTD category.
South Side Hard Soda markets itself as a flavour-focused beverage option aimed at consumers seeking lighter alternatives within the alcoholic drinks market.
According to the company, the range contains lower levels of carbohydrates and sugar and is targeted at consumers looking for a lower-calorie beverage option without sacrificing flavour.
The acquisition and accompanying production investment represent an important development for the brand as it seeks to build on its existing customer base and establish a stronger presence across South Africa’s retail landscape.
